10:30 am 11th January , 2012 , the group of lads who came together in the previous October finally got to open the doors of what has come to be known as Athy Community Men's Shed. We would like to thank everyone who donated time . effort and money in making our shed as successful as it is.
Mick Osbourne has being the driving light behind our shed , with out him we simply would not be here. Thank you Mick Recently restored , this horse drawn carriage is now for sale. Originally from Pakistan , this Tonga carriage made its way to Ireland via Cyprus . The Tonga carriage belongs to a charity , and we were tasked with restoring it and selling it on for the charity . A portion of the proceeds will go towards Athy Community Men's Shed Below is the carriage before we started work on it .
The Finished article From all of us , to all of you , Happy Christmas. Hoping you all have a safe and joyous festive time.
Great to get out of our men's shed and get into another #mensshed .
Thanks for having us down guys . If you wanted to look up Killarney men's shed webpage it's www.killarneymensshed.weebly.com The Annual General Meeting of the Irish Men’s Sheds Association will take place on the 1st of December 2012 at 11.00am in the Killarney Men’s Shed. The AGM will be an important event given the growth of the Men’s Sheds Movement in Ireland over the last 12 months. We encourage every Men’s Shed to participate at this meeting so that we can continue to develop as instructed by our grassroots membership. Please send the details of those who will be representing your men’s Shed at the AGM to info@menssheds.ie as soon as possible and by 5.00pm on Thursday the 8th of Novemeber at the latest. Due to the growth of the numbers of Sheds across the Island of Ireland and in line with our core values of equality and inclusiveness there has been some changes proposed to the goverenence structure of the IMSA. Following the AGM it is envisaged that the board will consist of 12 members made up of three members from each of the four proviences. The board members will be elected for a three year term with a minimum of one third of the board stepping down each year. So with these circumstances in mind and with the geographical spread of those who were elected last year the IMSA is seeking nominations to it’s board from it’s membership of suitable qualified experienced individuals from both Connacth and Ulster. There are no vacancies on the board this year for those from Leinster or Munster. To download a form to nominate an individual to the board of IMSA click here. Only Men’s Sheds that are registered to IMSA can propose or second a nomination. During the elections at the AGM each registered Men’s Shed will recieve one ballot paper per election.
A small number of places for observers, who are not members of the IMSA, will be made available for those wishing to attend. If you are not an IMSA member and would like to attend please register your interest immediately by emailing info@menssheds.ie IMSA is very greatful to the men of the Killarney Shed for facilitating this meeting.
